One person was arrested and 15 were cited Friday night during the Hands Across the Border safety checkpoint at the state line near Clover.
All local law enforcement agencies from York County, as well as the South Carolina Highway Patrol, North Carolina Highway Patrol and the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office, teamed up for the safety awareness program aimed at impaired drivers.
Officials checked 166 cars traveling on Hwy. 321.
In addition to the one driving under the influence arrest and 15 citations, 10 people were given warnings, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
South Carolina highway fatalities were down from 15 last Labor Day weekend to seven this year.
