York police have charged three people in connection with a fatal Christmas Day hit-and-run, officials said Wednesday.

The crash happened about 10 p.m. Dec. 25. Anthony Shannon, 47, was walking along Railroad Avenue when he was struck and killed by a vehicle, and the vehicle drove off.

A tip to York County Crime Stoppers led the York Police Department to the vehicle, according to a news release. Investigators said they determined the driver in the collision was Dana Eugene Lanier, 42, of York.

Lanier was charged with hit and run accident with death, according to jail officials. He was being held Wednesday at the York County Detention Center without bond.

Ben Jason Davidson, 40, and Joshua David Turner, 22, both of Clover, were charged with accessory after the fact, officials said. Each remained jailed Wednesday evening under $15,000 bond.

Conditions were foggy that night, but it is unclear what role, if any, the weather played in the collision, police have said.

The S.C. Highway Patrol assisted in the investigation.
