Rock Hill school counselor accused of excessive force with student

A Rock Hill school guidance counselor has been placed on administrative leave due to allegations he used excessive force with a student, according to a police report.

The parent of a male student reported the incident to Rock Hill police at about 3 p.m. Thursday, saying the school counselor “grabbed his left arm and jerked him across the room,” the report said.

The incident happened Wednesday, the report said, during a class lesson on “stranger danger.”

The guidance counselor, who was not named in the report, “has had previous reports of excessive behavior with students and has been placed on administrative leave from the school pending an internal investigation,” the report said.

The report said police are investigating; no charges have been filed.

The name of the school and other details were not listed on the report.
