Rock Hill man robbed while walking into apartment

A man was robbed at gunpoint while walking into his Rock Hill apartment building Friday, according to police.

The robbery happened about 12:30 a.m. Friday in the 1700 block of Wallick Lane, according to a Rock Hill police report. The victim said he was walking into his apartment and noticed a man sitting on the steps in the breezeway of the apartment building.

As the victim approached the suspect, the suspect stood up and said, “Give me your wallet,” the report states. The victim didn’t think the suspect was serious and kept walking. After he took a few more steps, the suspect pulled a silver pistol out and said, “You think this is a joke? Give me your wallet.”

The victim gave his wallet to the suspect, who also demanded his bracelet and watch, police said. The suspect fled and the victim called 911.

A K-9 unit was brought in to track the suspect but was unsuccessful.

The suspect is described as a black man, about 5-foot-9 and 210 pounds. He had a beard and gold teeth and was wearing a black hooded jacket, black pants and colorful tennis shoes.
