Rock Hill students and their parents have a chance this week to learn about all the district’s choice programs in one place.
The district’s Choice Schools Fair is scheduled for Thursday evening at Sullivan Middle School.
Choice schools provide learning opportunities related to various themes, including language immersion, Montessori, International Baccalaureate and arts programs, among others.
Seven Rock Hill elementary schools – the Children’s School at Sylvia Circle, Ebinport Elementary, Northside Elementary School of the Arts, Oakdale Elementary, Richmond Drive Elementary, Rosewood Elementary and Sunset Park Center for Accelerated Studies – offer choice programs.
Both Saluda Trail and Sullivan middle schools offer choice programs, as well. There are no high school choice programs.
All of Rock Hill’s choice schools also serve children who live in their attendance zone, in addition to students from outside the zone who apply to attend.
Students who attend choice programs do not pay any extra tuition, unless they live outside the school district, but families are responsible for their students’ transportation if they live outside of the school’s attendance zone.
Each program will host its own information and parent meeting later in the school year so students and parents can learn more about each school.
The application period runs from Jan. 17 to Feb. 28.
