York school leader leaving for state post

Ron Roveri, director of the Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center, is leaving for an administrative role with the S.C. Department of Education.

Roveri, director of the York center next to York Comprehensive High School since 2004, will be director of Career and Technology Education. He begins work Tuesday.

The York school board has named Thomas Ray, assistant director of the career center, as interim director.

Roveri said the success of students in the York career center “is the reason I was offered this opportunity.”
