Steve Trash performs in Rock Hill on Earth Day
Performer and environmental educator Steve Trash rocked a crowd of Rock Hill elementary school students during Earth Day shows Friday at Sullivan Middle School.
Trash, also known as Rockin’ Eco Hero, sang to the music of a makeshift string instrument, performed magic tricks and talked about the value of reusing and recycling.
He presented two shows, entertaining Rock Hill students from Oakdale, Lesslie, Mount Holly, Rosewood, Richmond Drive, Old Pointe and Ebinport elementary schools.
Trash, who lives in the hamlet of Frog Pond, Ala., has brought his message of environmental stewardship to schools and other venues around the United States and the world. His Rock Hill shows are presented by the Arts Council of York County.
Trash also will give free public performances at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday at the Old Town Amphitheater, 133 E. Black St., Rock Hill, during “Street Magic with Steve Trash.”
Crafts and children’s activities will also be offered from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Saturday show is coordinated by the arts council and the Old Town Association.
