Richland County deputies have arrested a woman they say left her 2-year-old child home alone for about two hours Tuesday.

Ashpiana Dixon, 22, has been charged with unlawful conduct towards a child, according to a news release.

Deputies responded to Dixon’s residence at Carriage House Apartments on Windmill Court at about 1 p.m. A maintenance worker – who was performing a work order at the apartment at the time – notified the sheriff’s department that the child had been left alone, according to the release.

Dixon returned to her apartment shortly after deputies arrived on scene, according to the release. She was arrested just before 1:30 p.m.

Deputies discovered the child had been alone in the apartment since 11 a.m., according to the release. The child was turned over to the Department of Social Services.

Dixon was transported to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
