High cost of war is disconcerting
Sitting in the warmth of my den, reflecting on the joyous Easter I've had, and watching the 11 o'clock news, my feelings of peace were shattered when I learned that today, Easter 2008, marks the 4,000th death suffered by our American soldiers in Iraq. How much more do we have to suffer? What greater cost must we pay? When will Bush's war end?
When I retired in December 2006, there were some 2,000 deaths. Now, 15 months later, we mark the 4,000th!
President Bush, growing older is mandatory; growing up is optional. It's time for him to grow up. We need to get out of your multi-trillion-dollar war now! Borrowing from the learned words of economist Paul Samuelson, for you it's all guns and no butter. That amount of money could go a long way in solving most of our economy's ills.
