Today's Panthers mid-day report

SPARTANBURG — Herald Panthers reporter Darin Gantt filed the following mid-day report from training camp Wednesday:

BIG CAT IN HOUSE: Owner Jerry Richardson made his first appearance at camp Wednesday, guaranteeting all his employees were on thier toes. He's been off the radar the last few months while helping to spearhead the NFL's commissioner search.

NOT BACK YET: S Mike Minter's expected back to camp soon, but he wasn't here Wednesday morning. He flew back to Charlotte Tuesday, and should be here today or tomorrow.

DECIDED ADVANTAGE: When the Panthers do team drills, it's often hard for the offense to get a pass off. That's because the D-line has played so well, rather than any shortcomings they have on the offensive side. DE Julius Peppers was having his way with RT Jordan Gross throughout the morning.
