Prep playoffs begin tonight

The state basketball playoffs begin tonight and 14 Herald-area teams qualified by finishing in the top four of their region standings.

Chester's girls go to Travelers Rest tonight to kick things off. Chester's boys are home against Seneca on Tuesday in the Class AAA playoffs.

The Class AAAA boys start Wednesday. Fort Mill's boys will host Spartanburg on Wednesday.

South Pointe hosts Dorman, Northwestern travels to Byrnes, and York is on the road against Hillcrest.

Indian Land's have a first-round road game at Calhoun County on Tuesday.

Great Falls' girls won the Region 3-A championship and host Wagener-Salley on Tuesday.

The Class AAAA girls begin play Tuesday, led by South Pointe at home against Mauldin.

Also on Tuesday, York hosts Byrnes, Northwestern is at Dorman and Lancaster travels to Spartanburg.

The Class A boys start Wednesday and Great Falls hosts Ridge Spring-Monetta. Lewisville is on the road at Hunter-Kinard-Tyler.

Games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., but can be played earlier if both schools agree.
