BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Roberto Caro scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning, leading the Tennessee Smokies to a 7-6 win over the Birmingham Barons on Sunday.
Caro scored on the play after he reached base on a forceout, advanced to second on a single by Jhonny Pereda and then went to third on a single by Pereda.
Birmingham took a 6-0 lead behind two hits and two RBI from Gavin Sheets. Tennessee answered in the fifth inning when it put up six runs, including solo home runs by Pereda and Connor Myers.
Manuel Rondon (1-1) got the win with two innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while Danny Dopico (0-1) took the loss in the Southern League game.
Tennessee hit a season-high five doubles in its victory.
Several Barons chipped in at the plate, as five players had at least a pair of hits. Sheets doubled and singled twice, scoring a pair of runs while also driving home a couple. The Barons also scored a season-high six runs.
