Weather washes out Posipanko's chance at 300th win

Lightning has forced Winthrop men's soccer coach Rich Posipanko to wait a little longer for his 300th win.

Friday night's match against Georgia Southern in the Wingate Inn Classic was canceled with 41:05 left and the host Eagles leading 2-0.

Posipanko came into Friday's match with a 299-204-42 mark.

Winthrop, 3-1 going into the match, got its first goal of the night at the six-minute mark when junior midfielder Grant Wise dribbled by his defender and blasted a shot from 10 yards out that handcuffed Georgia Southern keeper Joey Ralph.

Winthrop's Daniel Revivo scored an uncontested goal at the 46-minute mark. Then came the thunder and lightening.

Winthrop will return to the field at 2:30 Sunday afternoon against Gardner-Webb, a 1-0 loser to Radford earlier Friday.

Georgia Southern will take on Radford at noon.
