Anderson freshman forward Taylor Shugart (Northwestern) was in the right spot at the right time last Saturday in helping the Trojans edge St. Andrews, 73-72, in a Conference Carolinas basketball game in Laurinburg, N.C.
The 6-7 Shugart's putback at the final buzzer capped an 8-0 Trojans' run in helping with the victory.
St. Andrews had held the lead for the entire game until Shugart snared a missed layup by Jarret Johnson and put up a shot at the buzzer for the Trojans' victory.
Shugart finished the game with 11 points and eight rebounds. He's averaging 4.7 points and 3.9 rebounds a game.
Trojans sophomore guard Kevis Cornwell (York Comprehensive) had a good outing against St. Andrews, scoring 10 points and grabbing a team-leading nine rebounds. The 6-2 Cornwell is averaging 10.3 points and 4.5 rebounds a game.

PRESBYTERIAN: Blue Hose basketball coach Gregg Nibert is looking to the future, namely 2011-12 in the Big South Conference.
The Blue Hose are making the transition to NCAA Division I so they will be eligible for the Big South's automatic NCAA tournament berth in '11-12.
So it's Nibert's plan to redshirt current sophomores Al'Lonzo Coleman, Pierre Miller and Josh Johnson in 2010-11 so the Blue Hose could be a force the following season.
Coleman is the Blue Hose's leading scorer (15.1 ppg) and rebounder (7.9 rpg) this season. Johnson is averaging 11.0 points a game and Miller, a point guard, is averaging 7.9 points and leads the team in assists (2.8 apg).
USC-SALKEHATCHIE: Two former Chester basketball players have seen limited playing time as freshmen for USC-S' Indians this season.
Xavier Mayfield, a 5-11 guard, has played in two games and is averaging 2 points and less than a rebound a game.
Meanwhile, 6-7 forward Donald Sims is averaging 6.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in two games for the Indians.
USC UPSTATE: Freshman center Chalmers Rogers (Fort Mill) turned in a solid effort in helping the Spartans win an Atlantic Sun Conference basketball game last Monday.
The Spartans snapped a four-game losing streak with a 57-56 victory over Lipscomb.
The 6-7 Rogers was forced to play 18 minutes because of Spartans' foul problems. He finished the game with four points and four rebounds, all on the offensive boards, and turned in a strong defensive effort against Lipscomb's 6-9 Adrian Hodzic.
Rogers has appeared in all 17 Spartan games and is averaging 1.9 points and 1.6 rebounds a game.
The Spartans are 3-14, 2-6 in the conference.
