NASSAU, Bahamas -- The Winthrop Lady Eagles fell to Memphis 52-46 on Saturday in the consolation game of the Bahamas Sunsplash Shootout.
Winthrop (4-5) trailed by nine points at the half before chipping away at the Tigers' lead early in the second half. The Lady Eagles opened the second half more inspired and outpaced Memphis 20-6 over the first 12 minutes to take a 41-36 lead.
Shanice Cole hit a jumper at 11:44 to draw within one at 36-35, and then converted her free throw attempt to knot the score. Jennifer Walker scored the next five points for the Lady Eagles to give them a five-point lead midway through the second half.
Memphis closed the game with a 14-5 run to seal the victory.

Tiffany Rodd led the Lady Eagles with 12 points Saturday, including back-to-back 3-pointers during the second-half comeback. She was named to the all-tournament team.
Kathi Ryska played significant minutes at the point and helped lead the second-half rally to join Rodd as an all-tournament selection.
Winthrop's Ashley Haugtvedt made all four of her field goal attempts against Memphis to finish the tournament a perfect 9-of-9 shooting.
Winthrop returns to action Dec. 30 when it hosts Campbell at 7 p.m.
