Former Winthrop Eagle Michael Jenkins was one of four players added to the Oklahoma City Thunder’s training camp roster. Jenkins, who played in the NBA Summer League with the Brooklyn Nets, joined Talib Zanna, Lance Thomas and Richard Soloman on the Thunder’s roster, which currently stands at 14 players, according to The Oklahoman.
The paper tabbed all four players as long-shots to make the Thunder’s regular season roster. No player from Winthrop has ever played in an NBA regular season game. Jenkins, who spent most of his career playing in Europe, would like to become the first.
On Monday, he posted a photo of himself in a Thunder jersey, No. 6, with the caption, “It's #NBAMediaDay2014 and I'm thankful and blessed to be apart of it...#ThunderUp!!! Thank you Oklahoma City for giving me this opportunity! One step closer to making my dreams a reality, and I'm going to continue to enjoy the journey!”
