Incoming Winthrop men’s basketball recruit Bjorn Broman continued his free-scoring ways in Minnesota high school basketball.
The 5-foot-10 Lakeview Christian Academy senior pumped in 74 points during his team’s loss to Maranatha Christian in Saturday’s regular season finale. Broman hit 15 3-pointers, and his 74 points surpassed his brother Anders’ 71-point effort from 2012 for second-most points in state history during a single game. Video of Broman’s 74-point effort shows him shooting from deep and finishing at the rim with both hands, and through contact.
Broman’s 74 points also pushed him past 4,000 for his career, making the future Eagle one of just three Minnesota players to do so. Anders Broman owns the state’s all-time career scoring mark, as well as the single-season mark of 1,311. Bjorn Broman, who opted for Winthrop over offers from several other schools including Maryland-Baltimore County and St. Francis (Pa.), scored 1,293 points this season; he could overtake his brother in that portion of the state record book later this week when Lakeview Christian plays in the first round of the 1A playoffs.
