Senior Jenna Kasmarik was named the Big South attacking player of the week and goalie Alaina Girani was tabbed freshman of the week, it was announced Wednesday by the conference office.
For the second week in a row, Kasmarik, an attacker from Suwanee, Ga., earned the player of the week award after scoring nine goals in two games including both game-winners. Kasmarik notched five goals and one assist against George Mason, and scored four goals, including the game-winner in overtime on a free-position attempt, Sunday in the Eagles’ win over Michigan. This is her fourth weekly honor from the Big South in her two-year career as an Eagle.
Girani, a freshman from Wirtz, Va., earned her honor after posting a 2-0 record last week and totaling 22 saves. She allowed only six goals against George Mason while making nine saves and picking up five ground balls. Against Michigan, she was crucial in keeping the Eagles in the game late and in overtime. Girani finished with 13 saves and four ground balls.
Winthrop will be back in action at Eagle Field on Sunday at 1 p.m. when the Eagles host the St. Francis Red Flash.

Seabolt wins Big South weekly award
Winthrop sophomore Zach Seabolt (Raleigh, N.C.) has been selected as the Big South Conference men's golfer of the week for events played Feb. 19-25, it was announced today.
Seabolt captured his third medalist title of 2014-15 as he won a two-hole playoff in the Jones Invitational, hosted by Pepperdine University earlier this week He carded a 54-hole score of 8-under 208 (73-65-70) on the Valencia Country Club layout in Valencia, Calif.
