The Lady Trojan defensive rotation caused plenty of headaches for South Pointe in a 55-47 victory Friday at Northwestern.
Northwestern used its athletic bench to cause the Lady Stallions turnovers and shooting woes. As a result, the Lady Trojans dominated the second and third quarters with a combined 29-17 advantage.
"We are a full-court pressing team with a lot of athletic talent on our roster," Lady Trojan coach John Bramlet said. "The way we use our full-court is to rotate 15 players, which includes eight freshmen and sophomores.
"And tonight, we got good leadership from our four seniors."

The Lady Trojans defensive momentum carried over to the offensive end where five jumpers connected from beyond the 3-point arc.
Xy'Reisha Isom swished three deep jumpers and Alexis Brice added two. Isom opened the second half by sinking two 3-pointers for a 33-18 Lady Trojan lead. Emily Searcy sank two free-throws to cut the Lady Stallions deficit to 10, 34-24 with 2:02 remaining.
However, Northwestern ended the third quarter by scoring eight of the final 10 points for a 40-26 advantage.
South Pointe showed signs of life when Searcy scored a layup to cut the deficit to 11, 43-32, at the 6:40 mark.
Brice and Isom provided answers for the Lady Trojans as consecutive 3-pointer built a 49-34 Northwestern lead. Shakaria Buckson picked up a steal and dribbled the length of the court for a lay-up and 17-point Lady Trojan margin with 2:34 remaining.
"We had our share of mental mistakes and we just had a night where we did not shoot well," South Pointe coach Brett Childers said. "We just never were able to get into a good offensive flow."
Isom and Sha'shay Alexanders paced Northwestern with 14 and 13, respectively. Timisty Nelson and Searcy provided the Lady Stallion offensive punch with 20 and 14 points.
