Fort Mill’s boys’ lacrosse team earned the No. 1 seed in the Upper State bracket and will open the state playoffs Tuesday night at home against Eastside. Nation Ford also qualified, as the No. 7 seed, and will face second-seeded Greenville on the road.
Fort Mill had the only local girls’ team to make the playoffs in that bracket. The Yellow Jackets will face Eastside at home on Tuesday.
Soccer state rankings updated
Lancaster’s girls’ soccer team debuted in the state’s top-15, released today by Eurosport Scoreboard. The 9-3 Bruins checked in at No. 14. Fort Mill’s girls are ranked third, and the only other Class AAAA girls’ squad in the area ranked.

On the boys’ side, Northwestern is No. 3, and Fort Mill is No. 7. In Class AA, both Indian Land boys and girls’ soccer teams are ranked third.
Northwestern girls’ basketball team selling barbecue
John Bramlett’s Northwestern girls’ basketball program will be selling barbecue plates from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 10. The $8 plates, from Courtney’s BBQ, include pulled pork, slaw, chips and a sandwich roll. The sale will be held in the F Gym and delivery is available. Indian Land girls’ soccer 3, St. Joseph’s 2 (Friday)
Mark Bonda’s Indian Land girls knocked off St. Joseph’s behind goals from Kate Komorous, Shalyn Dougherty and Babs Marshall, who struck the winner in the 68th minute. Alexys Loveless and Kristen Carpenter assisted the goals for the Warriors, while keeper Isabella Maia made eight saves.
Warrior softball wins two at Triple Crown Invitational
Indian Land softball won two of its five games at the Triple Crown Invitational over the weekend in Aiken. The Warriors beat Midland Valley 6-4 to open the tournament, before losing three straight to Laurens, White Knoll and South Aiken. They finished the tournament on the right note, beating Fox Creek 12-0. Kayla Price’s three-run home run was the highlight of the day.
