The South Pointe girls and the Northwestern boys each claimed a pair of wins in the Crosstown Throwdown on Tuesday night at the Rock Hill Aquatic Center.
The South Pointe girls defeated Northwestern 91-75 and topped Rock Hill 95-65. In the other girls’ action Northwestern beat Rock Hill 90-63.
The Northwestern boys beat South Pointe 105-58 and won over Rock Hill 108-46. In the other boys’ action South Pointe defeated Rock Hill 88-60.
In the three-way competition among the teams, Rock Hill and South Pointe claimed five first-place finishes each in the girls’ competition. Northwestern won only one first place spot in the competition.
In the boys’ competition, Northwestern won seven first places. Rock Hill had four first-place spots.
There were a pair of double winners in the overall competition in the girls’ division. Lani Jo Knight of Rock Hill won first place in the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Freestyle. South Pointe’s Claire Holiday claimed the top spot in the 200 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke.
The boys’ compeititon also saw two double winners. Jackson Bagwell of Rock Hill won first place in the 100 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke. Northwestern’s Conner Farris picked up the top spot in the 200 IM and the 100 Butterfly.
Rock Hill won both of the 200 Medley Relays. The Bearcats’ team of Lani Jo Knight, Eleni Outz, Anna Ashley, and Hannah Rohaley won the girls’ event. The Rock Hill team of Jackson Bagwell, Isaac Bagwell, Hudson Gray, and Alex Adams won the boys’ competition.
Northwestern won both of the 400 Freestyle Relays. In the girls competition the Trojans’ team of Sascha Belin, Hannah Rivers, Olivia Ondus, and Brandi Ingram claimed first place. In the boys’ competition the Northwestern team of Parker Hooten, Ethan Barkley, Garrett Wolfgang, and Conner Farris won the top spot.
South Pointe won the girls’ 200 Freestyle Relay. The team of Claire Holiday, Mollie Barron, Sidney Barron, and Maddie Neil claimed the top spot. The Northwestern boys won the 200 Freestyle Relay. The Trojans had Parker Hooten, Ethan Barkley, Garrett Wolfgang, and Conner Farris swimming in that event.
In other girls’ competition Maddie Neil of South Pointe won the 200 IM, while Rock Hill’s Anna Ashley won the 100 Butterfly. Rock Hill’s Eleni Ouzts was first in the 500 Freestyle, and Mollie Brannon of South Pointe was the top swimmer in the 100 Breaststroke.
In other boys’ competition Northwestern’s Morgan Armstrong won the 200 Freestyle, while Isaac Bagwell of Rock Hill won the 50 Freestyle. Adam Hawthorne of Northwestern finished first in the 500 Freestyle and teammate Caleb Martin was the winner in the 100 Breaststroke.
