Northwestern, Lancaster and South Pointe play at home in volleyball first round

South Carolina high school volleyball playoff brackets were released over the weekend and seven local teams will take part.

In the 4A bracket, Northwestern, the Region 3-4A’s No. 2 seed after Gaffney, will host Region 2-4A No. 3 seed Byrnes. The Trojans will play at home on Thursday.

Nation Ford, No. 3 out of Region 3-4A, hits the road to face Mauldin, No. 2 from Region 2-4A. Rock Hill, the local No. 4 seed, takes on Region 2-4A top seed, Dorman, which traversed region play unscathed at 14-0. Both of those matches are Thursday as well.

Lancaster won Region 3-3A, earning a top seed and home games for the first few rounds at least. The Bruins will play Region 2-3A No. 4 seed Chapman in Thursday’s first round.

South Pointe finished second in Region 3-3A and will host Blue Ridge, the No. 3 seed from Region 3-3A.

Indian Land made the 2A postseason as the No. 4 seed out of Region 4-2A; the Warriors will hit the road to face No. 1 seed Mid-Carolina in the first round on Wednesday.

In the 1A bracket, Lewisville will face Wagener-Salley on Tuesday - not Wednesday like the rest of the first round matchups. The Lions are the No. 3 seed out of Region 3-1A, while Wagener-Salley earned a No. 2 seed.
