Andrews, Rivers win region player of the year awards

Two more regions released their basketball awards on Tuesday.

York’s All-State senior Deshaw Andrews was named the Region 3-4A boys player of the year, while his teammate, sophomore Wally Wilmore, picked up newcomer of the year honors. Clover coach Bailey Jackson earned coach of the year after leading the Blue Eagles to the region championship.

Lancaster’s Malia Rivers was named the Region 3-3A girls player of the year. Her coach, Ronnie Robinson, who has the 25-0 Bruins in the 3A Upper State championship Saturday against Dreher, was named the region’s coach of the year.

Malia Rivers, Alexis Williams, Keyotta Garris, Hayden Thorne- Lancaster; Izzy Clark, Kelly Foster- South Pointe; Deja Marshall, Porcelain Goldsborough- Chester; Mariana Eison- Union County; Leonna Tucker- Broome; Trevoria Dendy- Clinton.
