High school roundup: Rock Hill tops Lancaster in boys’ tennis

Rock Hill won five singles matches and one doubles match to defeat Lancaster 6-1 in a non-region boys’ tennis contest at Lancaster.

Rock Hill evened its record at 5-5 overall.

Singles

No. 1 - Madison Sharp (RH) def. Issac Thomas 6-0, 6-3; No. 2 - Blake Williams (RH) def. Connor Palmeri 6-2, 6-2; No. 3 - Connor Jenkins (RH) def. Avery Hinkle 6-0, 5-7, 10-3; No. 4 - Vic Villamor (RH) Connor Parman 7-6 (3), 6-4; No. 5 - Henry Sharp (RH) def. Kyle Baker 6-4, 4-6 (13).

Doubles

No. 1 - Sharp/Williams (RH) def. Thomas/Palmeri 8-6; No .2 - Dilon Patel/Donovan Pate (L) def. Alex Riggs/Chris Ellis 6-3, 6-3.

BASEBALL

York 7, Hilton Head 2

York toppled Hilton Head 7-2 in the second round of the Hilton Head Invitational Tournament.

Will McSwain pitched a complete game for York to get the win. He scattered five hits, struck out seven and walked only one.

Joe Gill and Austin Devinney both had two hits and two RBI to lead York. Thomas Caldwell had one hit and drove in one run, while Nick Clayton added a hit.

York improved to 5-5 overall.

Nation Ford 8, Rock Hill 6

Nation Ford scored four runs in the top of the fourth to tie the game and went on to defeat Rock Hill 8-6 in a Region 3-4A game at Rock Hill.

Nation Ford got six hits in the fourth inning rally that tied the count at 4-4.
