Northwestern Athletic Director Bill Warren has released the list of inductees for the Class of 2010 Athletes Hall of Fame.
The four inductees will be recognized during Northwestern's Friday home game against Clover at District Three Stadium. They will be introduced before the game starts. Kickoff is 7:30 p.m.
Members of this year's class are: David L. White, football and track 1971-'75; Janet Frederick Cisco, basketball and tennis 1977-'80; Crystal Brown Walters, volleyball, basketball, softball, 1979-'82; Mike Partlow, football, basketball, and baseball, 1985-'88.
HICKLIN: South Pointe coach Bobby Carroll said Tuesday he has not heard from the South Carolina High School League on the status of starting quarterback Tay Hickin for Friday's home game against Chester.
Hicklin was ejected late in the first half during the Stallions 17-7 victory over Fairfield Central and could be in the lineup Friday. Carroll said the South Carolina High School League will read the report turned in by the game officials and rule whether Hicklin has to sit out a game. South Pointe can appeal the decision with the League.
If Carroll shows why Hicklin should be a allowed to play, the League has the option to reverse any previous ruling.
WORLEY WATCH: Now what the career football records are agreed upon, at least by the high school writers in the state, it's safe to say that Northwestern quarterback Justin Worley is South Carolina's all-time leader for passing yards.
Worley passed for 319 yards last week, pushing him to 10,773 and moving him past former Byrnes quarterback Chas Dodd, who passed for 10,640. State records are those recognized by the South Carolina High School League in its book, Palmetto's Finest. Career passing yards and career touchdowns are not included, but a check around the state produced the results above.
In the passing category, Worley had three touchdowns on Friday, giving him 127 for his career. The leader is Myrtle Beach quarterback Everett Golson with 130. Golson has missed most of the season but his coach, Mickey Wilson, said his senior will be back soon.
CLOWNEY: Imagine dropping back to pass and seeing South Pointe's Jadeveon Clowney rushing in at full speed.
Clowney, a defensive end, is listed as the top high school senior player on most recruiting sites on the Internet. He is 6-foot-5, weights 255 pounds and runs a 4.5-second, 40-yard dash. He hits like a runaway train.
To tweak his offense and add another weapon, Carroll has begun using Clowney at running back more often. In Friday's game against Fairfield Central, Clowney started at tailback. He had eight carries for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Clowney has 13 carries for 221 yards and four touchdowns for the season, with a long of 97 yards.
