Blythewood outscored visiting Rock Hill 14-3 in the fourth quarter to knock off the Bearcats 27-20 Saturday afternoon.

In a game delayed from Friday night because of lightning, Bubba Pittman’s Rock Hill team fell behind the hosts 13-3 after turnovers on its first two drives. The Bearcats regrouped to score twice in the last five minutes of the first half to take a 17-14 lead into the break. Dre Robinson threw touchdown passes of 11 and 13 yards to Tay Marks and Kenny Agurs to give Rock Hill a three-point lead. Agurs finished with eight grabs for 133 yards and a touchdown.

Bearcats kicker Zhenya Deller hit 2-of-3 field goals, but had one blocked early in the second half. Blythewood couldn’t convert on the ensuing drive, but after forcing a punt, Dan Morgan’s team took the lead on a 92-yard drive that ended with a 32-yard scoring pass from Jordyn Adams to Kameron Riley. Adams finished with 107 rushing yards and a touchdown and completed 14-of-18 passes for 239 yards and another touchdown.

The Bearcats equalized with a 27-yard Deller field goal. Three possessions later, Blythewood scored the game-winning touchdown on another monster drive, this one 91 yards. Adams reached the end zone on a 9-yard run and Robinson was picked off as Rock Hill tried to tie the game on a final possession inside the last minute.

Westwood 23, Chester 20

Westwood overturned a 13-point deficit to beat Chester 23-20 on Saturday, in one of many games in the Midlands postponed from Friday night. The host RedHawks earned rookie head coach Dustin Curtis his first career win at the expense of the Cyclones, who looked good to win the opener after taking a 20-7 lead with 5 minutes, 31 seconds left in the third quarter.

But the RedHawks (1-0) scrapped back into the contest, scoring 16 straight points to grab an unlikely-looking win. Chester (0-1) is back in action next week at home against Franklin Christian.
