Community theater

Rock Hill Community Theatre presents Scrooge’s Christmas at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and Dec.15, 16 and 17 and 3 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Dec. 18 at the Rock Hill Community Theatre, 546 S. Cherry Road, Suite N behind the ROC Emporium. In Ken Jones’ adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic tale, “A Christmas Carol,” a group of actors portray all the characters in this Christmas tradition. Observe the redeeming transformation of miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, played by award-winning actor Michael Devokaitis. Tickets: $15, adult, and $12, student/senior. Saturday, Dec. 10

Candlelight tours

Historic Brattonsville’s annual Christmas Candlelight Tours will be 3-9 p.m. Dec. 10. Historically dressed interpreters portray how the holidays were celebrated on the plantation during the 18th and 19th centuries. From 3-6 p.m. hands-on activities for all. The Bratton Arms Tavern will be open with food by the Friends of Brattonsville available for purchase. Admission: adult, $10; senior, $8; ages 4-17, $6; age 3 and under and CHM members, free. Historic Brattonsville will be closed the day of the events until 3 p.m. and Brattonsville Road will be closed from 2:30-9:30 p.m. For more information call 803-684-2327 or go to www.chmuseums.org.

Parades

Richburg – Begins at 11 a.m. and travels up Main Street and ends near the fire station.

Van Wyck – The 8th annual Van Wyck Christmas Parade and Candy Toss begins at noon at Steele Hill and Old Hickory roads and ends at the community center .

Fort Lawn – Begins at 2 p.m. where U.S. 21 South begins, travels down Main Street and ends at Municipal Drive.

Lancaster – Begins at 6 p.m. at the Cultural Arts District in Historic Downtown Lancaster.

Lake Wylie – The 28th annual “Lights on the Lake” holiday boat parade begins at 6:30 p.m. at T-Bones on the Lake to line up. The route spans both sides of the Buster Boyd Bridge.

Sunday, Dec. 11

Musical program

▪ Fort Mill Community Playhouse presents “We Are One in Music: A Holiday Festival,” with the Carolina Belles, 3 p.m. Sunday at 220 Main St. Admission, $12. Limited seating. Reservations recommended at 803-548-8102 or go to fortmillplayhouse.org.

Bluegrass

Parade

Lowrys – Begins at 1 p.m. Dec. 17 at the Community Center, goes in Lowrys and ends at the community center. Only tractors, farm equipment and horses with or without riders allowed.
