South State Bank coming to downtown Rock Hill
South State Bank is relocating its Rock Hill branch from 1274 E. Main St. to 222 E. Main St. in downtown Rock Hill.
South State Bank will make improvements to the building last used by Bank of America. The new location will open in the fourth quarter of 2015 once renovations are complete.
“We have been at capacity for some time,” said Tom Camp, South State Bank executive vice president. “Not only is this office larger, but it will also provide easier access and better parking for our customers.”
Located 1.7 miles from South State Bank’s current office on East Main Street, the new office is larger than the bank’s existing branch. With the additional space, the branch will have a full-time consumer lender as well as a commercial lender.
“Many members of our company worked together in this building nearly 20 years ago. In addition, approximately 10 members of the South State Bank team worked with Rock Hill National Bank who originally occupied the facility. Many of these people are in leadership roles in our company today,” Camp said.
“This location has been vacant for over two years and we believe it is vital to the success of the downtown area,” said Gary Hood, South State Bank executive vice president.
Improvements to the site including an expanded drive-thru facility.
South State Bank has four other locations in the Rock Hill area 1127 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill; 808 E. Tom Hall St., Fort Mill; 817 Dave Gibson Boulevard, Fort Mill; and 801 E. Liberty St., York.
