Lesslie home damaged by garage fire
A Lesslie man lost his home when a fire broke out on Peachtree Road on Wednesday.
Firefighters from the Lesslie Fire Department rushed to the house at about 5:10 p.m. The fire appeared to have started inside the home’s garage and heavily damaged a car before it spread into the kitchen and front section of the single-story house.
No one was home at the time of the fire, although firefighters initially responded as if there were because the homeowner’s car was still in the garage, Lesslie Fire Chief Tommy White said.
Engines from Oakdale and Riverview stations were called in for backup to help get the fire under control.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, White said, but it appears to have been accidental. He estimates the damage to the home at $180,000.
