Executive Inn case gets extended again
The pending case against the owner of the Executive Inn in Rock Hill has been put off again.
Charges against H.S. Enterprises of Rock Hill and its owner Punam Patel, operators of the now-closed Executive Inn on North Anderson Road, were to be heard in municipal court this week. But because of ongoing demolition work at the condemned motel, that court date has been pushed back to Oct. 5.
Eight charges of violating Rock Hill’s maintenance codes were filed against the Executive Inn owner back in October 2014 after the inn was condemned by the city as “unfit for human occupancy,” citing several structural problems and a failure on the part of the owner to address them.
Several families who were living at the inn on a week-to-week basis were forced to find other accommodations.
Patel and city building officials had agreed to dismiss Patel’s charges if the inn was demolished by April 1, but demolition did not begin until late March because more asbestos was discovered in the building than anticipated.
If a court hearing is held in October, it will be little more than a year since the Oct. 2 condemnation.
