Bernie Sanders campaign opens Rock Hill office
Bernie Sanders’s presidential campaign is opening a field office in Rock Hill.
The Vermont senator will open an office Thursday at 2371 Cherry Road. A formal opening will take place at 5:30 p.m. Sanders will not be present for the opening event.
Along with an office in Anderson that will also open Thursday, this will be the sixth office Sanders’ campaign has opened in South Carolina ahead of the Feb. 27 Democratic presidential primary.
Polling shows Sanders will have to close a 50-point gap with Democratic frontrunner Hillary Clinton in the first-in-the-South primary state.
The Clinton campaign does not have a dedicated field office in the Rock Hill area. York County Democratic Party chair Amy Hayes said the campaign holds phone-banking operations at supporters’ homes as well as at Winthrop University and a local law office.
