Rock Hill company maintains national spot on Inc. 5000 list

A Rock Hill-based software developer has maintained a high ranking for the second straight year on a list of the fastest-growing national entrepreneurs.

SPAN Enterprises was ranked No. 2,110 on the 2016 edition of the Inc. 5000 – an annual list of the 5,000 fastest-growing companies released Wednesday by the business magazine Inc.

SPAN was first named to the list last year as No. 1,150. The company is rated the 15th-fastest company in the Charlotte region, and No. 21 in South Carolina.

To qualify for the list, companies must have increased revenue from a minimum of $100,000 in 2012 to at least $2 million in 2015.

“We are grateful for the recognition,” SPAN co-founder Agie Sundaram said. “SPAN couldn’t thrive without all the hard work and innovation from our team members, so – to them – I am most grateful.”

SPAN, which employs 28 at its Rock Hill location, is the only company from Rock Hill to make the list. For the second year in a row, it was honored as the fastest-growing software company in the state.

Since 2009, SPAN has developed 16 cloud-based software programs and 14 applications compatible on all devices.

“It’s great for someone to see what we do and recognize it,” said Charles Hardy, director of training and development. “It’s a very prestigious list. ... It’s certainly great to be in the top half of companies in the whole nation.”

The company will host a celebration of the honor at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6 at its downtown Rock Hill office on East Main Street.
