Relay for Life, York East covering, Rock Hill, Fort Mill and Tega Cay raises funds for the American Cancer Society with its relay at 2-10 p.m. Saturday at Dutchman Creek Middle School with two survivor walks; at the kick off and to lead the Luminary Ceremony at 8:30 p.m.

The community is invited to participate at the relay. There will be food, games, and plenty of local entertainers for all ages. For more information, visit www.relayforlife.org/yorkeastsc.

Special events

▪ Master’s Car Club and Calvary Baptist Church will have a Friday Night Crusade, 5-9 p.m. Friday with Justin Pryor singing in the church parking lot, 830 Jones Ave., Rock Hill. There will be classic cars, muscle cars, hot rods and more. Free hot dogs and drinks. Bring a chair.

▪ The 10th annual COOLFest, hosted by Keystone Substance Abuse and Werner Family Chiropractic, will be 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday at the BMX Supercross Field at Riverwalk, Rock Hill. This year, the event will be a community field day with games, obstacle course, inflatables, face painting and contests. A prize drawing for family passes to Tweetsie will be held. The event is free.

▪ Order of the Eastern Star, District 8 Busy Bee Club will have a spaghetti dinner, 6 p.m. Saturday at Richburg Lodge No. 89, 111 E. Lancaster St. Menu: Spaghetti, bread, salad, dessert, and drink. ▪ Clover is celebrating Bicycle Safety Month with its annual Mayor’s Bike Ride and Rodeo, Saturday in the parking lot of Memorial Stadium, 401 Clinton Ave. The rodeo begins at 10 a.m. with the bike ride at 11. For information, go to cloversc.org.

▪ VFW Post No. 3746 will sponsor a Cherokee Casino bus trip Saturday May 14. The bus leaves at 7 a.m. from the K-mart parking lot, Cherry Road and return at 9 p.m. Cost is $40 with a $25 credit give at the casino. For reservation, call 803-366-1910.

▪ Gaston Farm Road Equestrian Center will have Open Horse Shows Saturday and the second Saturday in September and October at 2717 Gaston Farm Road, Chester. Gates open at 9:30 a.m. and show starts at 11 a.m. There are 54 classes and six place ribbons given to riders. There will be concessions, a new and used tack sale, along with other vendors. Free parking and admission.

Fundraisers

▪ The Rock Hill Music Club will host its 15th annual Musical Tour of Homes has been rescheduled for 2:30-5:30 p.m. Sunday. Tour sites include the replica of the Greek Parthenon home of Dr. and Mrs. Earnest Archer, the historic home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Roddey and the restored former Andrew Jackson Ballroom in the Guardian Fidelity building. At each site local musicians will perform. At the ballroomwill be a historic display of Rock Hill Music Club from 1914-2016 and Elliott White Springs’ Springmaid advertisements. Jane There will be a silent auction of a Springs Mills bed ensemble designed by the late Princess Grace of Monaco. A reception will be held at the Archer home. Tickets are $15 and available at each location, from club members or at the Arts Council of York County. Proceeds go to local music scholarships, awards to Winthrop University, York County high schools and musical organizations.

Entertainment

▪ “With Strings Attached,” the musical duo featuring Elda Franklin on viola and Mary Ann Helton on piano, will present its annual spring concert noon May 17 at St. John’s United Methodist Church sanctuary, 321 S. Oakland Aven., Rock Hill. Joining them will be Mike Williams and featured vocalist Megan Calkins. Free admission but food contributions for local food pantries are welcome.

▪ Rock Hill Parks, Recreation and Tourism will host a free Family Movie Night Saturday featuring “Minions” (rated PG) on a large screen outdoors at Cherry Park soccer field No. 5. Games and races for the family will be offered from 7-8:30 p.m. The movie starts at 8:30. Bring a blanket or chair. Concessions will be sold. For information, call 803-329-5620.

Meetings

▪ The York County Genealogical and Historical Society will have its annual meeting at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 2445 S.C. 557, Clover. New board members will be elected and the scholarship recipient will be named. The program includes a brief history of the church and Bob Inman, author of Liberty Mountain, will speak. Open to the public.

▪ York County Quilt Guild will meet 7 p.m. Monday at Grace Lutheran Church, 426 Oakland Ave., Rock Hill. Karen Kendo, a longarm machine quilter, will discuss what judges look for in a judged quilt show.

Clubs

▪ The Silver Fox Club, sponsored by the Upper Palmetto YMCA, is an active senior group age 50 and older who are interested in travel and meeting others with similar interests. The Club regularly goes on day trips once a month to nearby cities. Other trips are 5-6 nights such as one planned to visit Chicago in September. ▪ The Ballroom Dance Club will meet 7:30 p.m. May 20 in the Oak Room, Fort Mill Golf Course, 101 Country Club Drive. Guests, $15 couples; $7.50 singles, and includes a dance lesson. Classes

▪ AARP Drivers Safety Program will be offered for ages 26 and older 1-5 p.m. May 26 at Fort Lawn Community Center, Fort Lawn. Participants will get certificates that may reduce insurance rates for collision and liability coverage. Cost for AARP members is $15 and $20, non-members. Registration is required. ▪ Catawba River Art Guild will sponsor a three-day workshop “Taking Your Watercolors to the Next Level,” taught by artist Anne Hightower-Patterson. Classes are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. May 18-20, at the Center for the Arts, 121 E. Main St., Rock Hill. Cost is $250. For information, call 803-328-2787.
