Fort Mill woman charged with assaulting fellow inmate at York County jail

A Fort Mill woman who has been in jail since October on attempted murder charges was arrested Friday after allegedly assaulting another female inmate at the York County Detention Center, according to a York County Sheriff’s Office report.

Sandra Nicole Blackwelder, 21, was arrested for assault and battery after a jail guard saw her hit another inmate, Casey Tyndall, several times, according to a sheriff’s office report. Other detention officers helped break up the fight and moved Blackwelder to lockdown inside the jail, the report states.

Blackwelder has been in jail on a $75,000 bond since Oct. 29 after she was charged with attempted murder and a weapons charge. A magistrate added $1,092.50 to her bond after she was arrested for allegedly assaulting Tyndall, 29.

Tyndall has been at the detention center since Nov. 6., according to jail records.
