Rock Hill man pleads guilty to manslaughter in 2014 slaying
The Rock Hill man called a danger to the community after he allegedly threatened and intimidated witnesses in a case where he was charged with murder has pleaded guilty to manslaughter and will face at least 15 years in prison.
Donquavious Davis, 20, with convictions dating back to elementary school, pleaded guilty to manslaughter, weapons charges and burglary in the June 2014 shooting of Santario McCoy, 24, court records show. The plea was accepted last week with sentencing set for July 13, court records show.
McCoy was gunned down at a friends house in Baker Street Extension and Davis was arrested two days later after a city-wide manhunt. Prosecutors allege Davis shot McCoy in a jealous rage because McCoy was with a woman Davis had a child with.
Davis tried for bond while jailed but he allegedly had written threatening letters to people involved in the case, including one to the mother of the child where Davis said, “Come on, Baby mama!”
He had repeatedly demanded a trial saying he was innocent and had alibis to prove it, but now has admitted to shooting McCoy.
