Report: Thieves damaged Lake Wylie business before leaving with $900 cash

Two unknown suspects made off with $900 cash after breaking into a Lake Wylie business and damaging the walls inside the building, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.

An employee of Auto Money Title Loan reported that he found a back door on the Charlotte Highway store forced open when he arrived for work Monday morning, according to a sheriff’s report. The front door was still locked.

The desk drawers and file cabinets were open, and there were several holes in the walls, including a large hole between the back room and the bathroom and a hole between the bathroom and the outside, deputies said. The employee said the only thing missing was $900 cash.

Power to the building had been cut, so the alarm did not work, the report states. A woman who lives behind the business said she was on her porch between midnight and 1 a.m. and saw two men run from behind the business toward River Hills through the woods. The witness said all she could tell about the suspects was that they were wearing all black.
