One dead, one injured after Sunday shooting at Rock Hill home
A Sunday shooting at a Rock Hill home left one person dead and another injured, according to Rock Hill Police.
The shooting happened late Sunday afternoon at a home on Scoggins Street. One person died at the scene and a second victim was taken to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, according to Capt. Mark Bollinger, a Rock Hill Police spokesman. Their condition is not known.
Antravious White, 21, died at the scene, York County Coroner Sabrina Gast said Monday.
No arrests have been made.
A single police cruiser appeared to be the only police presence at the home, which was still marked off with yellow crime scene tape at 11:30 p.m. Several neighbors were sitting on their porches or standing in their yards talking among themselves as a light rain fell.
One woman who lives near the home said she heard “a lot” of gunshots around 5:30 p.m.
“It sounded like firecrackers at first. That’s what you want to assume instead of automatically assuming it’s gunshots,” said the woman, who asked not to be named. “We tried to take cover. It’s a sad situation, especially when you live around here and have children and stuff, and when other people don’t have a care in the world for others’ well-being.”
