Gunshot victim, 22, found dead in parked truck in Lancaster County
The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a man found shot to death in a truck parked just off a roadway Tuesday.
A man who owns land on the 1800 block of John Everall Road told deputies he noticed a truck parked on the property as he passed by just after 1 p.m., according to Doug Barfield, a sheriff’s office spokesman. The man looked inside the 2001 Ford F-150 crew cab, which was parked just a few feet from the roadway.
Police found Brandon Wheeler Reese, 22, of Lancaster inside the truck, dead from an apparent gunshot wound, Barfield said. Reese was the owner of the truck.
Reese’s death is being investigated as a homicide, Barfield said. Lancaster County investigators and State Law Enforcement Division agents were at the scene until after dark Tuesday.
Barfield said investigators collected evidence, gathered leads and interviewed several people Tuesday night. No arrests have been made.
“We need to know Mr. Reese’s movements Monday, Monday night and into Tuesday morning,” Sheriff Barry Faile said in a prepared statement. “We ask that anyone who had contact with him during this time frame, anyone who saw the truck on John Everall Road and anyone with any knowledge of this incident to contact us immediately.”
Anyone with information should call the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office at 803-283-3388 or CrimeStoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
This is Lancaster County’s first homicide of 2016.
