A North Carolina man was arrested on drug and weapons charges after a traffic stop in Lancaster County.

Michael Cody Wilson, 22, of Bessemer City, N.C., is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana and carrying a pistol, according to the Lancaster County Sheriff’s office. He was also ticketed for possession of drug paraphernalia and improper lights.

Wilson was heading south on US 521 and got onto the Hwy. 9 bypass Friday when he was stopped by a deputy because the rear lights on his car were not visible. The deputy smelled marijuana and searched the car.

Authorities found a glass jar with five grams of what appeared to be marijuana, two marijuana grinders, rolling papers and a glass smoking pipe in the center console. They also found 37 grams of marijuana in a gallon bag in the spare tire well in the trunk, according to the sheriff’s office.

Officers found a .38 special revolver and $1,132.

Wilson admitted to the deputies the marijuana was his and that he was taking it to someone in Myrtle Beach.
