Lancaster murder victim identified; suspect sought

The victim in Saturday’s fatal shooting at Palmetto Place apartments in Lancaster has been identified as Deangelo Kirk, 25, of 549 Gingercake Road, Lancaster, coroner’s office officials said.

Kirk’s brother, Delvelceo Kirk, 26, died in November after he was shot while in a car in Lancaster, officials said. A Lancaster man, Danielle Peay, was charged with murder in that November case but the alleged shooter in Saturday’s killing remains uncaught.

Police are still seeking the alleged shooter, Rashad Demon Johnson. Johnson, 28, a convicted felon out on bond for several alleged crimes at the time of Saturday’s incident, is described as armed and dangerous by police.

Police responded to the Palmetto Place apartments around 3 p.m. Saturday and found DeAngelo Kirk behind an apartment building. He was taken to a Lancaster hospital, then flown to Charlotte but died.

Johnson has not been found although Lancaster Police Department officers have warrants for murder and weapons charges against Johnson.

Anyone with information on Johnson’s whereabouts should call the Lancaster Police Department at 803-283-3313 or the anonymous tip line at 803-289-6030.
