4 attacked in Clover home invasion, robbery
Four people were attacked during a Clover home invasion and robbery Monday, and authorities are searching for suspects, according to the York County Sheriff’s Office.
The incident happened around 4 p.m. at a home on Birchwood Drive, according to a sheriff’s report. One victim, a 35-year-old woman, told deputies that a second victim, who is 17 years old, had oral surgery earlier Monday and she brought him home and put him to bed on the living room couch around 1:30 p.m.
The woman said she heard glass breaking about an hour later and saw three men armed with guns entering the back door of the home, deputies said. The men threw the 17-year-old victim on the floor and she jumped on top of him, at which point one of the suspects pulled her by her hair and tied her wrists, then forced her into a closet. From inside the closet, she said, she heard one suspect tell the 17-year-old “this was happening because of his ex-girlfriend,” the report states.
The female victim’s husband and his co-worker entered the home a short time later, at which point one of the suspects pistol-whipped the husband in the back of the head and told him to “get down,” the report states. The female victim’s husband grabbed a pistol from the living room and ran to a back bedroom where two of the suspects were beating the 17-year-old, but the third suspect hit him multiple times in the head as he was aiming the gun at them.
The suspects took money from the male victim before tying him up in the closet with his wife, deputies said. His co-worker was tied up in a bathroom.
The husband managed to get untied and escape but was met at the back door by one of the suspects, who had his gun and forced him back into the closet, the report states. The female victim said her husband exited the closet again a short time later and she came out after him. She told deputies she didn’t know where her husband went, but she, along with her husband’s co-worker and the 17-year-old, ran across the street to a neighbor’s home to call police. Her husband came running out a short time later.
The 17-year-old victim was transported to a hospital to be treated for injuries, deputies said. The female victim had ligature marks on her wrists and her husband had lacerations to his head and hand. His co-worker appeared to be unharmed.
Deputies say the suspects stole two firearms, electronics, power tools and cash from the home and have not been arrested.
Multiple witnesses reported seeing a blue four-door Ford Explorer in the driveway of the home and around the neighborhood around the time of the incident.
One suspect is described as a light-skinned black man between 17 and 20 years old, about 6-foot-4 and wearing a dark T-shirt, dark pants and a red baseball hat. The second suspect is a black man between 17 and 20 years old, about 5-foot-10 and weighing 160 pounds. He had dreadlocks and was wearing a dark shirt, dark pajama pants and a blue bandana with a paisley design on his face. The third suspect is described as a black male between 20 and 25 years old with close-cut hair and wearing dark clothing and a bandana on his face.
