A HazMat team was brought into Rock Hill this week after drug agents discovered a methamphetamine lab while executing a search warrant.

Bryan Carpenter, 24, of Rock Hill was arrested Wednesday evening after authorities with the York County Multijurisdictional Drug Enforcement Unit obtained a search warrant at a home on Carrie Estates Road and found Carpenter in the residence, according to a report from the York County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators seized methamphetamine, marijuana and a meth lab. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division sent a hazardous materials truck to dispose of the chemicals.

Carpenter was arrested and charged Wednesday with second-degree offenses in manufacturing and trafficking methamphetamine, the report states. He remains in jail at the York County Detention Center on a $55,000 bond.

Authorities were searching for another man, Clifford Canfield, who lives at the home and has an outstanding arrest warrant. Officials did not find him. Charges are pending for Canfield, including second-degree offenses in manufacturing and trafficking methamphetamine.

Criminal records, the report says, indicate that Canfield and Carpenter both have a prior drug conviction.
