Teen charged with shooting York kitten
York County deputies have charged a 16-year-old boy with shooting a kitten multiple times with a BB gun, a spokesman said Friday.
The teenager was charged as a juvenile with ill treatment of animals, said Trent Faris, a spokesman for the York County Sheriff’s Office. Because of his age, he is not being identified.
“He’ll be petitioned to Family Court and charged with ill treatment of animals,” Faris said.
The boy is accused of shooting a kitten with a BB gun outside a home on Plaxco Road in York on July 16. Deputies say the kitten, which was 8 weeks old at the time, had damage to its right eye and a BB lodged in one of its lungs.
The kitten’s owner said the cat – now named Survivor – belongs to her young grandson, who reportedly witnessed the shooting.
