John King running for re-election to Rock Hill state House seat

The lone Democrat in York County’s legislative delegation has announced he plans to run for another term in the S.C. State House.

John King, D-Rock Hill, announced Thursday he is running for re-election in House District 49, which covers the south side of Rock Hill and portions of York. King has represented the district since 2008.

King is currently the chairman-elect of the Legislative Black Caucus and a member of the House education, public works and ethics committees.

King said he wanted his constituents to know he planned to continue representing them in Columbia.

“I look forward to continuing to work on the road issue, the education issue,” King said. “There’s a lot we won’t get finished this year.”

King is the owner of Christopher King's Funeral Home.
