‘Sleeping Beauty’ opens Friday at Winthrop


York County Ballet Co. presents “Sleeping Beauty” at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Johnson Hall Theater at Winthrop University.

The cast of dancers bring to life the enchanting story of Princess Aurora, bewitched by the evil Carabosse. Aurora along with her kingdom were placed into a deep and protective sleep by the benevolent Lilac Fairy, to be awakened by her noble Prince whose kiss breaks the spell.

The story is told from the christening of the baby princess to the wedding celebration with her prince.
