Grayson Snyder of Rock Hill snacked on a chicken sandwich near a table with potatoes to be peeled. He had staked his spot earlier Friday morning at the Winthrop Farm, where he and a barbecuing buddy set up a tent and their cooker under a large tree with lots of shade.

On the menu was smoked chicken and bacon barbecue pizza. Down the row of food trucks, Gary Taylor of Lexington, S.C., was shoveling out old charcoal from his cooker. On Taylor’s menu was shrimp creole.

The men were preparing for the Barbecue Cook-Off and Anything But Butts competition Friday as part of the Come-See-Me Festival. On Saturday the public can purchase barbecue that was part of the cook-off.

The 10-day festival, which started last weekend, continues Friday night with the Moonlight Jazz & Blues concert at Winthrop Lake.

Saturday is the final day and there will be a Tailgate Party, Skydiving and Fireworks, all at Winthrop Lake.

But weather also might be a factor. Everything Trucks has been canceled due to expected inclement weather.

And the National Weather Service has predicted a 90 percent chance of rain in Rock Hill Saturday until 2 p.m. Check the Come-See-Me app, Facebook page or website at https://www.comeseeme.org/ for information about postponements or cancellations.
