Barbecue and bluegrass

The fourth annual Butts & Bluegrass BBQ Festival is scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Clover Community Park. Sample a variety of barbecue, then vote for your favorite. Judging will be the S.C. Barbeque Association. Proceeds will benefit the Full Choice Food Pantry at the Clover Area Assistance Center. The festival will feature live bluegrass music, a kids play zone and health screenings. Tawba Fest

The second annual Tawba Fest will be 2-10 p.m. Saturday at Riverwalk in Rock Hill. The event features an outdoor celebration along the banks of the Catawba River. The event includes free fitness classes and a market with local artists and vendors, food trucks and regionally brewed craft beer. For information, go to tawbafest.com.

Horse show

Bluegrass

“Every Now and Then” will be featured at Allison Creek Bluegrass 7 p.m. Thursday at Allison Creek Presbyterian Church, S.C. 274 and Allison Creek Road near Lake Wylie. Doors open at 6 p.m. with concessions available at 6:30 p.m. Free admission. Love offering taken.

Piedmont Pottery Festival

Shop for traditional wheel-thrown and hand-built, functional and decorative works in clay created by Carolina potters Sept. 26 at Historic Brattonsville. At 11 a.m. learn about regional history of pottery and contemporary Catawba Indian pottery. At 1 p.m. Buddy Wingard will present his awarding-winning documentary film about the work and life of a slave potter from Edgefield: “Discovering Dave: Spirit Captured in Clay.” Take guided tours of the plantation’s antebellum houses; see blacksmiths at work, and 11 a.m.-3 p.m. the Contreras will play bluegrass music in the Oak Grove. Zombie crawl
