Winthrop theater
Winthrop University’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents “Jeffrey,” at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in Johnson Studio Theatre. The play follows the story of the title character and his search for love and physical gratification. Jeffrey meets the man of his dreams, who happens to have HIV. Humor thrives while tragedy awaits. Winthrop theater
“Jane Eyre,” based on the 1847 classic novel by Charlotte Bronte and presented by Winthrop University’s Department of Theatre and Dance, will open Wednesday in Johnson Theater. “Jane Eyre” tells the story of its title character who, orphaned and sent off to a boarding school by her cruel aunt, lands a job as a governess to the precocious Adele, Mr. Rochester’s ward. Eyre and Rochester find themselves perhaps falling in love with each other, but Rochester has a secret. Showtimes are 8 p.m. Oct. 7-10 and 2 p.m. Oct. 11. Championship disc golf
United States Disc Golf Championship will be Oct. 7-10 at Winthrop University Recreation Area, Rock Hill. The best disc golfers in the world will compete on the world’s finest disc golf course. Single-day tickets: $10. VIP pass: $25 with access all four days. Tickets available online or at the event. Free for active/retired military and children age 12 and younger. The Arts Council of York County presents: “Then. Now. Beyond,” featuring artworks by Paul Martyka, Jonathan McFadden and Sarah Nguyen at the Center for the Arts, Dalton Gallery, 121 E. Main St., Rock Hill. The show runs through Nov. 1. A free, public reception will be 6 p.m. Oct. 15.
