Pottery sale
The 26th annual Winthrop Holiday Pottery Sale will be noon-6 p.m. Friday in room G-10 in the Rutledge Building at Winthrop University. Visitors will find many unique, hand-crafted creations from ceramics students and Winthrop faculty. Selections this year include beautifully glazed pitchers, coffee mugs with 3D faces peering out and an exquisite container featuring a bird perched on top. Proceeds from every sale go toward purchasing new equipment, bringing in visiting artists and raising money for scholarships. For information, call 803-323-2323.

Singing Christmas Tree
Sister-to-Sister will celebrate Christmas with a Singing Christmas Tree performing “Lead Me Back to Bethlehem,” 4 p.m. Saturday at Rawlinson Road Middle School. Tickets are $10. Messiah
The York County Choral Society will present Handel’s “Messiah” Part I at 4 p.m. Sunday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1320 India Hook Road, Rock Hill. Tickets are $20, adults; $10, seniors; and $5, students.

Chester, 4 p.m. in downtown Chester. No entry fee. Registration: 803-581-4142.
Rock Hill, 6:30 p.m. begins on Oakland Avenue at Winthrop University and concludes at Fountain Park on Main Street in downtown Rock Hill. Lighting is required for all floats.
Saturday
Fort Mill, 11 a.m. begins at Unity Presbyterian Church and ends at Walter Elisha Park.
Hickory Grove, 3 p.m. near the old Oxford plant and travels down Wylie Avenue to the VFW building.
Sunday
Clover, 3 p.m.through downtown Clover. To mark the parade’s 45th year, this year’s theme is Toyland Christmas.
Tirzah, 3 p.m. on Tirzah Road between S.C. 5 and S.C. 161 in York. Any transportation acceptable. Parking available at Tirzah Presbyterian Church.

Breakfast with Santa

Seasonal music
With Strings Attached, a duo consisting of Elda Franklin on viola and Mary Ann Helton on piano, will present “Music for the Season” at noon Dec. 15 in the sanctuary of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Oakland Avenue, Rock Hill. Joining them will be guest artist, mezzo-soprano JL McDaniel-Milliken. Admission is free but donations of canned goods for local food pantries would be welcome.
‘The Nutcracker’
The York County Ballet presents “The Nutcracker,” 8 p.m. Dec. 17-19 and 3 p.m. Dec. 18-19 at Johnson Hall Theater at Winthrop University, Rock Hill. Tickets are $15 and available at the Winthrop Bookstore and yorkcountyballet.org.
