Singer, songwriter, pianist Sarah McLachlan, known for her stunning mezzo-soprano vocal range as well as her emotional ballads, will showcase her skills and extraordinary personality Wednesday at Ovens Auditorium in Charlotte.

Canadian-born with multiple Grammy and Juno Awards plus a prestigious appointment to the Order of British Columbia, McLachlan has also rung up sales of over 40 million albums. In mid-2014 she released a new album of original music, “Shine On.”

Along with success of her personal music endeavors, McLachlan also proved her entrepreneurial savvy and paved the way for other artists by founding Lilith Fair, a concert tour focused on female musicians.

Filling an obvious need promoting female artists, Lilith Fair concerts toured successfully in the late ’90s and in 2010, forever altering the national tour landscape, expanding careers for female artists and raising millions for women’s charities. Her philanthropic perspective continues at the Sarah McLachlan School of Music in Vancouver, a free music school for at-risk youth, proving once more her flair for making opportunities happen.

Focused now on showcasing her new album, McLachlan takes her magical mix of pop, rock and soft rock on the road. The interactive element in her concerts make for memorable moments, thanks to Q&A opportunities where she shares thoughts on love, loss, and life.

She willingly reveals the musical artist and the storyteller, forging a strong connection with her audiences.

Share many memorable moments of gorgeous harmonies and heartfelt emotions with Sarah McLachlan Wednesday at Ovens Auditorium, 2700 E. Independence Blvd., Charlotte. For details, call 704-372-3600 or go to ovensauditorium.com. For more on the music, visit sarahmclachlan.com.
